Press Release | 26 June 2018
The City of Stonnington is seeking community feedback on our draft Sustainable Environment Strategy 2018-2023.
City of Stonnington Mayor Cr Steve Stefanopoulos said the strategy aims to build on the significant investment and focus Council already places on sustainability.
“This strategy will set a framework for how we work towards creating a healthy and sustainable city, now, and for future generations.
“It identifies strategic areas such as climate change and energy; resources and waste management; and urban environment.
“These priority areas were shaped through a community consultation process that involved a community survey, drop in sessions, workshops with community groups and other engagement activities.
“The recent Community Satisfaction survey again reinforced the importance our residents place on sustainability.
“Based on what our residents have told us, we will continue to invest in measures that reduce our ecological footprint. We will also look for opportunities to lead and collaborate with other levels of government to ensure that Stonnington continues to be a thriving part of one of the most liveable and green cities in the world.
“How we do that will be shaped by the final strategy, so it’s vital we hear from residents to make sure the strategy meets community expectations.
“Residents are encouraged to provide their feedback on the draft survey before it is finalised later this year” said Cr Stefanopoulos.
