Plans for restoration and reinstatement of the dive facility at Harold Holt Swim Centre in Glen Iris will soon be released for community feedback.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, is excited to hear from the community on plans to return diving at the centre and also announced a range of other improvement works.

“There were almost half a million visits to the Harold Holt Swim Centre last financial year. The “Harold Holt” is a centre that our community uses and loves,” said Cr Stefanopoulos.

“The centre serves our entire community, from children learning to swim to the Malvern Marlins Masters Swimming Club, and these improvement works will ensure it meets the needs of our next generation of swimmers and exercise enthusiasts.

“I’m also looking forward to hearing from the community about our plans to reinstate diving.

“Council has worked with the original architects for the centre to develop plans for restoration of the diving tower and pool, which were constructed in 1969 and are on the Victorian Heritage Register.

“The next step is to provide opportunities for pool users, local residents and the community to give feedback on our plans and liaise with key stakeholders such as Diving Victoria, Life Saving Victoria and Heritage Victoria.

“Information about how to take part in consultation will be announced in the coming weeks,” added Cr Stefanopoulos.

Other improvement works proposed for the Harold Holt Swim Centre include retiling pools, replacement of  lights with energy efficient LED fittings, accessibility improvements to the outdoor pool, refurbishment of the outdoor change rooms, upgrading spectator seating and incorporating the fenced off land to the north of the dive tower into the site.

Works will be scheduled to minimise disruption to regular users of the pool, information and signage will alert people in advance.
