The City of Stonnington now has a wonderful new public artwork installation brightening up King Street, Prahran.
The installation aims to enliven shared community spaces and enhance the streets undergoing redevelopment. The artist behind the latest street art creation is Tristan Kerr.
The new piece is a welcome addition to the changing streetscapes of Stonnington and the creative enterprise that Council supports.
The King Street redevelopment is part of the Greville, King and Porter streets Improvement Plan, which will see the iconic area significantly upgraded.
The works will help create a more user-friendly environment and facilitate greater social interaction.
The pavement mural sits within the City of Stonnington’s Visual Arts Program, designed to support and nurture emerging artists, established artists, street artists, galleries and art projects.
The program contributes to the development of Stonnington as a Creative City supporting creative enterprise. It further aligns with Stonnington’s Arts and Culture strategy to support local businesses and entice creatives to the cultural hub.
The artist installed the mural between 5 and 16 February and the work will stay there until the redevelopment of King Street is completed in 2019.
