After a long wait, one of Stonnington’s favourite sporting grounds, Gardiner Park, is being redeveloped as part of our commitment to provide high-quality facilities and open space.
Nestled between parks and trees, houses, a busy train station and major arterial roads, Gardiner Park is a popular sporting ground for locals. A health and fitness fanatic herself, East Ward Councillor Jami Klisaris, said she’s delighted her local park is experiencing a great and much-needed transformation, and that Council is continuing to pave the way in its support for encouraging girls and women participating in sport.
We’ve consulted extensively with our community and park and sports users, and they told us what they wanted. Gardiner Park is a haven for our young girls in sport and gives them a level playing field in which to participate.
“I am impressed with the standard of improvements that have gone into this park and can’t wait for all the works to be completed,” said Cr Klisaris.
“The new pavilion is taking shape, the turf is durable, reliable, easy and safe and the completion of the landscaping and improved playground area is awesome.
“It’s going to be amazing, but I invite residents to come down now and take a look, watch the kids train, practise your footy technique or simply walk your dog,” added Cr Klisaris.
