Trees on private land
Most land in the City of Stonnington is privately owned private with property owners playing a vital role in maintaining and growing the urban forest.
Stonnington property owners are encouraged to plant trees in their gardens to protect and enhance biodiversity and to ensure the continued amenity of our city. Learn how to increase biodiversity by creating a wildlife haven in your backyard.
To ensure healthy, attractive trees are retained across the municipality, Council has introduced regulatory controls through provisions in the Stonnington Planning Scheme and the General Local Laws.
