The City of Stonnington is taking part in a project called YourGround that is mapping a safer Victoria for women and gender-diverse people.

Stonnington is one of more than 20 State and Local Government authorities across Victoria working with Monash University’s gender, design and space specialists, XXY Lab, and award winning digital consultancy CrowdSpot, to collect and identify locations where women and gender-diverse people feel unsafe.

The YourGround project allows anyone to anonymously drop a pin, tell a story or share an experience about feelings of safety while using public space – whether for sport, leisure or play. The experience could be negative or positive.

At the end of the mapping phase the collected data will be analysed to provide insights into where and how we can make our local area feel safer, and make our city's parks and community spaces more accessible and inclusive.

The YourGround online interactive map will be active and open for community submissions until July 2021.

Do you have an experience you would like to share?

We would like to know about the places you run, walk, hang out and catch up with friends and family. Drop a pin, share your insight and help make your sport, your leisure and your local area safer for everyone.
