Join the new Creative Writing Group at PMI Victorian History Library, Prahran!

Learn the craft of writing short stories and poetry during this welcoming course for beginners. From the foundations of inspiration, narrative, character and place to rhythm, breath and purpose, each student will be encouraged to unearth the creative potential of their own minds. Join published writer and poet Manisha who will guide you through weekly readings and writing exercises. Participants will engage with a range of literature, whilst developing their own storytelling voice.

The nine-week introductory program will cover:

  • Inspiration and ideas that compel us to write
  • Short stories and their structure, form and function
  • Character depth and arc; writing realistic dialogue
  • Poetry of place, inner worlds in relation to environment
  • Writing prompts for stimulating the imagination and silencing the inner critic.
