First Nations: Our culture in glass

First-Nations-Our-Culture-in-Glass

Showing glass works from current and graduate First Nations students from Melbourne Polytechnic’s glass courses; and work from members of the GLAAS Inc First Nations Glass Program.

For some years GLAAS has wanted to assist First Nations glass artists to develop a higher representation within the Australian art glass sector. This program is delivering the opportunities which are supporting this aim to be realised.

This exhibition demonstrates how the artists use glass to reflect their culture in new and thought provoking ways. The works are considered and skillful and represent many aspects of First Nations peoples reaction to, and interaction with, the contemporary Australian landscape, both country and cultural.
