Heritage Protection for 221 Burke Road, Glen Iris
The City of Stonnington has prepared Amendment C255 to the Stonnington Planning Scheme.
Amendment C255 has been prepared to introduce permanent heritage protection to 221 Burke Road, Glen Iris.
Specifically the Amendment:
- Varies the Schedule to Clause 43.01 Heritage Overlay to include HO586 221 Burke Road, Glen Iris with permanent heritage status.
- Amends Planning Scheme Map 7HO to show HO586, with permanent heritage controls.
Exhibition of the Amendment closed on Friday 21 April 2017.
Council Consideration of Submissions
As a result of exhibition, twelve submissions were received. At a meeting on 10 July 2017 Council considered a report (you can view a copy in the Documentation area of this page) on the submissions received. Council resolved to request the Minister for Planning appoint an independent Panel to hear the submissions and consider the proposed Amendment.
Planning Panel Hearing and Report
The Minister for Planning has appointed a two person Panel to consider the Amendment and submissions received on Amendment C255. A Panel Hearing was held on 18 September 2017 at Stonnington Council.
Council engaged expert evidence from Jim Gard’ner of GJM Heritage Pty Ltd.
Council received the Panel’s Report on 17 October 2017. In its report the Panel recommended that the C255 Amendment be adopted as exhibited with minor updates to the citation.
The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C255 to the Stonnington Planning Scheme. The Amendment came into effect on Thursday 22 February 2018 when notice of its approval was published in the Victorian Government Gazette.
C255 replaces the interim heritage overlay Amendment C254. The Approved Amendment Documents can be viewed under the Documentation area of this page.
