Candlelight Concert: Tribute to Aretha Franklin + Other Jazz Greats

Immerse yourself in a stunning, multi-sensory experience this March as the critically acclaimed Candlelight Concerts comes to Prahran Square for two free live and intimate concerts.

The first Candlelight Concert on Saturday 25 March will feature a tribute to Aretha Franklin and other jazz greats. Falling on Aretha's birthday, be mesmerised by this timely and heart-warming performance with spectacular renditions of her most popular songs, performed by the Luminosity Trio (Elly Poletti, Cheryl Durongpisitkul and Joe McEvilly).

Event Details

Getting here

Prahran Square is located on the corner of Izzett and Chatham streets in Prahran (get directions). To get here, you can drive, take public transport, walk or cycle.

Bike

Cycle paths are located on Chapel Street and Commercial Road, or take the back streets for a leisurely ride or stroll. There are a plenty of bike rack stations located around the Square.

Car

Prahran Square has a 500-bay car park facility located directly below the parkland. The car park is open 24 hours and you may enter via Izett Street.

Public Transport

There are plenty of public transport options right on the doorstep of Prahran Square.

Train

Catch the Sandringham Line train to Prahran Station. Exit the station and head east along Greville Street (towards Chapel Street) then left into Izett Street.

Tram

Take Tram Route 72 and exit at Stop 30 at the corner of Izett Street (Prahran Market and Commercial Road).

Tram Route 78 also goes to Prahran Square. Exit at Stop 47 (Commercial Road and Chapel Street) or Stop 48 (Chatham Street and Chapel Street).

Bus

Bus routes 603 and 604 stop on Commercial Road just outside Prahran Market, opposite Izett Street.

Car Park

There are accessible parking bays in the 24-hour car park facility which is located directly below the parkland. Both levels of the car park are accessible by travelator and lift from Wattle and Cato Streets.

The Terrace

There is a lift located at The Terrace, providing easy access to the car park and public and accessible toilets.

Public Toilets

Public and accessible toilets are located on The Terrace. Access to the toilets is via the stairs or lift.

A Changing Places facility is also located on the Chatham Street end of Prahran Square, next to the Services and Visitor Hub.

Travel to the event lightly

Hop on your bike, stretch your legs or cruise in on public transport. If you are driving, start the festivities early and carpool with your crew.

Single-use plastic ban

Say no to single-use plastic items and get ahead of the State's single-use plastics ban.

Will there be food available?

There will be no food served at the event, however you can bring your own food and drink to enjoy while experiencing the concert. Please ensure you dispose of your rubbish in one of our waste bins on-site.

If you're looking to purchase something to eat or drink, there is a huge selection of nearby restaurants and bars. Please consider supporting our local traders during your visit to Stonnington.

Will there be drinking water available?

Yes, water stations are located nearby each of the four corner entrances, so be sure to bring your reusable water bottle.

Can I bring my dog or pet?

You sure can, but please practice good ‘petiquette’.

Pets should be kept on leash and suitably restrained as per Section 26 of the Domestic Animal Act.

You are responsible for picking up after your pet.

Can I smoke at the event?

Smoking is not permitted at any outdoor events, including community or street festivals, as per the October 2016 amendment to the Tobacco Act 1987.

The Tobacco Act makes it illegal to smoke or vape in many public spaces where people can be exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke or aerosol from an e-cigarette.
