Published on 30 June 2022
You don’t have to break the bank these school holidays. Step outside and discover these free activities to keep the kids active and entertained.
Parks and gardens
Take a walk through one of our beautiful green spaces and find the perfect spot for a picnic. Many of the parks have playgrounds that are great for adventuring, or ovals ideal for a run around and kick with the footy.

Free activities at the Roola Boola Children's Arts Festival
From Tuesday 28 June until Saturday 9 July, the kids can get creative at Chapel Off Chapel with puppet making workshops (using recycled materials!) and colouring in.

Also, just around the corner at Prahran Square, you can experience the interactive art installation, REFLECTION, for the duration of the Festival. If you park in the undercover carpark at the Square, you can check out the artwork and take a moment to pause and reflect on your way to Chapel Off Chapel.

Puppies
Head to one of our 27 parks where dogs can roam around off-leash in designated areas. Chase your pet around for a good laugh and an even better workout!

Head to a Library
Enjoy a good book and story time with your children, or experience something a little different, from obstacle courses to crafts and collage. On the right day, you might even encounter an iconic Australian animal. You can also pick up some seeds to grow your very own garden at home with your kids, thanks to the recent launch of our Seed Libraries.
Activities are free, however bookings are necessary.
