How to fill out your Father's Day weekend
Published on 30 August 2022
Father’s Day is this Sunday, but don’t panic! There’s still plenty of time to plan a fun weekend of activities for the special parent in your life. Here’s a guide on how to keep your dad entertained at each point of the day, taking inspiration from some of Stonnington’s wonderful local cafes, restaurants, bars, and venues.
Breakfast
Pick up something scrumptious from a bakery to surprise dad when he wakes up. For South Yarra locals, something like Le Yeahllow’s luscious tempting Hazelnut Mocha St. Honoré cake would go down a treat.
Juliette Coffee & Bread in Malvern East and Armadale are offering a special Breakfast In Bed pack with bread, pastries and brioche galore. Order it ahead of time for a stress-free morning.
Mid-morning
On Saturday, Man With A Pram are hosting a special Father’s Day walk that will start and end in Prahran Square. This is a free event that brings mums, dads, grandparents, parent figures, and families together, and is a great opportunity to meet new people and spend time with your loved ones.

Lunch
By now you’ve worked up an appetite, so make a pit stop at a local café to curb your cravings. Little Chloe café in Malvern East is currently accepting Father’s Day bookings - their all day breakfast and lunch menu should definitely hit the spot!
Neon Tiger Café in Malvern is also keen to make dads happy with their wagyu beef burger and moorish baked eggs. Get in quick before bookings fill up.
Evening
Head to Chapel Off Chapel for Songs from the Canyon, a night of music from Laurel Canyon including the songs of Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Beach Boys, Carole King, The Byrds, The Doors, The Mamas and The Papas, and more. Tickets are still available for Saturday and Sunday night, with a special discount available on Father's Day!

Dinner
On a day like today, what better way to round out the evening than by having Italian for dinner?! Ecco Gusto Italiano in South Yarra are offering lunch and dinner bookings, with a mouthwatering menu of cheesy carby goodness to dig into.
La Porchetta, also in South Yarra, are determined to serve dad his favourite food and are also open for lunch and dinner!
Elsewhere in carb land, you may have noticed Broadsheet’s recent write up on the
best burgers in Melbourne, and we are proud to announce that two iconic Stonnington hotspots made it on the list. Bring dad along to dig in to a bread-tastic feast at
Leonard’s House of Love in South Yarra or
Parlour Diner, Windsor.
