What's Your Story? Writing Competition

'What's your story?' is an annual writing competition presented by Stonnington Library and Information Service as part of the [untitled] Literary Festival: our writers, readers and stories.

Prizes are awarded for Short Story, Poetry and Creative Story Writing. Winners were announced at the [untitled] Literary Festival launch on Thursday 14 November.

Short story - Adult

For: Anyone over the age of 18 years.
Guidelines: 1000 word limit.
Stonnington Prize: $300 – this prize can be won by Stonnington residents only.
Winner: Olivia for Jasmine on the driveway.(PDF,402KB)

General Prize: $200 - this prize can be won by Australian residents of any age.
Winner: Debra for Winter meat.(PDF,190KB)


Poetry - Adult

For: Anyone over the age of 18 years.
Guidelines: Maximum 40 lines.
Stonnington Prize: $300 – this prize can be won by Stonnington residents only.
Winner: Guido for Distraction.(PDF,116KB)

General Prize: $200 - this prize can be won by Australian residents of any age.
Winner: Richenda for Red Lipstick.(PDF,319KB)


Creative story writing - 5 to 12 years old

For: Students aged 5 to 12 years who live or go to school in Stonnington.
Guidelines: 500 word limit. The entry can be fiction, autobiographical or inspired by real events experienced by the author.
Prize: $150 prize-pack of books.
Winner: Poppy for Girl's best friend.(PDF,44KB)


Creative story writing - 13 to 18 years old

For: Students aged 13 to 18 years who live, work or go to school in Stonnington.
Guidelines: 750 word limit. The entry can be fiction, autobiographical or inspired by real events experienced by the author.
Prize: $200 prize-pack of books.
