Our Healthy Sports Clubs program encourages Stonnington sports clubs to create environments that promote health and wellbeing.

Good Sports

The Good Sports program supports Australian community sporting clubs to reduce harms from alcohol and other drugs. This helps to create a healthier, safer and more family friendly environment for all.

Proud 2 Play

The Proud 2 Play program advocates for LGBTQI+ inclusion in sports. It supports educates more than 50 clubs, associations, local governments, and teacher groups.

The Proud2Play Sports Industry Hub offers great resources to help your club create an inclusive and diverse community.

Fair Access Policy

Under the Gender Equality Act 2020, Councils must take action to promote gender equality in policies, programs and services. 

Our Fair Access Policy(PDF, 1MB) aims to:

  • support action towards gender equity in access and use of sports infrastructure
  • build our capacity to identify and remove causes of gender inequality
  • support sports clubs to address gender imbalances in participation and committee membership
  • provide safe, welcoming and accessible spaces for women, girls and gender-diverse people
  • develop resources to help sports clubs address gender inequality.

Fair Access Principles

We have developed 5 Fair Access Principles in consultation with local and state government.

Equitable access

Action to promote and welcome women, girls and gender-diverse people who may be underrepresented or disadvantaged.

Inclusion and diversity

Sports and recreation infrastructure is welcoming, safe, inclusive and accessible for women, girls and gender-diverse people. It respects the needs of gender, disability, age, race, culture, sexuality, economic position, and personal identity.

Promote and prioritise

Promote and support sports clubs with equal access for women, girls and gender-diverse people. Prioritise access to facilities and competition and training times.

Support and develop

Support promotion of women, girls and gender-diverse people in community sports roles. Educate sports clubs and user groups to have fair access and gender equality. Promote participation in a range of sports for women, girls and gender-diverse people.

Monitor and evaluate

Monitor and evaluate gender diversity and intersectionality in sports and active recreation. Use evidence and participant experiences to inform planning, policy, programs and services.
