Start the year—and your day—on an energising note with Prahran Summer Sessions, our brand-new seasonal Mat Pilates and Yoga group fitness classes held on the rooftop sundeck at Prahran Aquatic Centre.

Prahran Summer Sessions combines everything you know and love from our regular Mat Pilates and Yoga classes with:

  • an exciting new location
  • invigorating outdoor setting, and
  • lively, uplifting atmosphere.

What to expect

As the sun rises, gentle movement in the pool below creates a soothing backdrop, as you breathe in the fresh morning air and settle under the guidance of our dedicated and knowledgeable instructors. Prahran Summer Sessions are perfect for calming your nervous system, awakening the body and centering your mind. In each session you can expect:

  • Low-impact workout
  • Slow to moderate pace and intensity
  • Standing, seated and lying sequences
  • Mindful movement with intentional breathwork

Mat Pilates

  • 45-minute full-body workout
  • Focuses on building core strength, enhancing mobility and improving posture
  • Controlled movements using bodyweight, a resistance band and toning ball

Yoga

  • 60-minute mind-body practice
  • Focuses on flexibility, balance and relaxation
  • Ancient practice combining physical postures (asanas), breathing sequences (pranayama) and mindful meditation

About the location

Prahran Summer Sessions take place outdoors on the rooftop sundeck, overlooking the iconic Prahran pool. Recently refurbished, this resort-esque space provides a serene escape from the bustling city, where your mind can unwind, recharge, and bask in the uplifting atmosphere.

While you’ll be sheltered from sun and rain, you’ll still feel the breeze and changing outdoor temperatures, hear the distant hum of the city, and connect with the rhythms of the aquatic surroundings. This balance of comfort and immersion creates the perfect setting to stay grounded, cultivate mindfulness, and be fully present throughout your practice.

Who is it for

Prahran Summer Sessions are suitable for all levels from beginner to advanced, with each class tailored to participants’ abilities. Variations are offered throughout the class to ensure everyone can challenge themselves safely.  These sessions are especially beneficial for:

  • Swimmers looking to support breath control, mobility and strength 
  • Athletes aiming to boost performance and support recovery  
  • Beginners looking to build a strong exercise foundation
  • Individuals with sedentary lifestyles
  • Those managing injuries or in recovery
  • Busy people searching for calm and focus

Participants must be aged 14 years or older.

Good to know

  • Parking is limited. We recommend arriving early to find a park or considering alternative transport options.
  • Booking is not essential but highly recommended to secure your spot and stay informed about class updates and reminders.
  • Mats are provided. Please bring a towel and water bottle.
