With the reinstatement of Stage 3 Stay at Home Restrictions, our buildings remain closed and online services are available, including extensive digital collections and virtual programs and events.

Click and Collect will be suspended from 9 July. The service will resume when it is safe to do so. Any items you may have on reserve will continue to be reserved until it is safe to resume the Click and Collect service. Return chutes are closed. All items are being renewed automatically and overdue charges do not apply.

Frequently asked questions

When will you be reopening?

As the Victorian Government releases more information around restrictions we will continue to review our services to determine if and how they can be safely reopened.

Is Click and Collect available?

From 9 July, Click and Collect will be suspended. The service will resume when it is safe to do so. 

Can I still return items while you're closed?

No, return chutes are closed. Please hang onto your items for the time being.

All items are being renewed automatically and overdue charges do not apply.

What collections can I access right now?

Our eLibrary provides access to thousands of eBookseAudiobooksmagazines and newspapersmusic and films

Can I still place reservations through the catalogue?

Yes, you can reserve items through our catalogue and we’ll keep these on reserve for you until it is safe to resume our Click and Collect service. 

What if I have items on reserve showing as available on my account?

We’ll keep these items on reserve for you until it is safe to resume our Click and Collect service. Your allocated reservations won’t expire while we’re closed.

I’m having trouble accessing my account and/or eLibrary collections.

What if I need assistance with accessing your eLibrary, want basic tech help or have a research or reading enquiry?

Please contact our libraries for assistance between 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Are regular library programs being held?

Many regular programs and events are being delivered online. Follow us on FacebookInstagram and Twitter to enjoy programs from home, including Storytime, Babytime Rhymes, Book Chat, Podcast Chat Club, Open Book and Get Connected.

Can I put in a request for new items?

Yes we are accepting requests for new items. If we’re able to purchase the item, we'll reserve it for you and contact you when we resume our Click and Collect service.

Can I request an item through Inter-library loan?

Yes, we are accepting requests for interlibrary loans. Due to the reinstatement of stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions, there may be delays processing your Interlibrary Loans.

Can I book/hire a library meeting room?

No. Library meeting rooms are not available for the time being.

No computer and need to complete a Centrelink or Medicare form online?

Your local Service Australia Centre has self-service terminals you can use. Find your nearest Service Australia Centre at https://findus.servicesaustralia.gov.au/

I call Prahran Library and am being redirected.

Prahran Library is currently closed and all calls are being redirected to our other libraries.
