Our annual Library Survey has confirmed what many of us already know: our libraries are valued not only for what they offer, but for how they make people feel.
More than 400 community members shared their feedback, with 92% saying they were satisfied with our events and programs. Books remain at the heart of the library experience; over 80% said the library encouraged them to read more, praising the “quality, range and recency of stock”.
The survey also showed our success in offering welcoming community spaces, with 90% agreeing the library makes them feel safe and welcome. The library was described as a “safe haven and a place to recharge”.
It was a strong year for our service, with over 300,000 visits, almost 800,000 loans and more than 1,200 events. We also saw an 80% increase in partnerships with Council teams and local organisations, creating more opportunities to connect, learn and engage with community.
Feedback from the survey will help shape the future of our libraries, so that we can continue to be inclusive, accessible and relevant places for learning, connection and discovery.
