What's Your Story? Writing Competition

What’s Your Story? is a writing competition presented by Stonnington Library and Information Service. The competition is part of our annual literary festival, [untitled]: our writers, readers and stories.

The competition is open to Victorian residents. Prizes awarded for Short Story, Poetry and Creative Writing.

Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who entered the competition this year.

Short story - Adult

For: Anyone over the age of 18 years.
Guidelines: 1000 word limit. 
Prize: $500.

Poetry – Adult

For: Anyone over the age of 18 years.
Guidelines: Maximum 40 lines. 
Prize: $500.

Winner: Richenda Rudman for Red Cellophane Sky(PDF, 378KB)  


Creative story writing - 5 to 12 years old

For: Students aged 5 to 12 years who live or go to school in Stonnington.
Guidelines: 500 word limit.  The entry can be fiction or inspired by real events experienced by the author.
Prize: $150 book voucher.

Winner: Oas Kulkarni for The Crayon and the Paper


Creative story writing - 13 to 18 years old

For: Students aged 13 to 18 years who live, work or go to school in Stonnington.
Guidelines: 750 word limit.  The entry can be fiction or inspired by real events experienced by the author.
Prize: $250 book voucher.
