Toorak/South Yarra Library temporary closure

15 December 2025 – 5 January 2026

From Monday 15 December 2025 until Monday 5 January 2026, the Toorak/South Yarra Library will temporarily close for works to repair the building’s exterior and windows.

These works form part of Council's ongoing commitment to maintain important library assets. We recognise work of this nature may cause some inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

The library will reopen on Tuesday 6 January 2026 and minor works may continue.

In the meantime you can learn more about the project by visiting the building works page.

While Toorak/South Yarra Library is closed, we encourage you to visit our eLibrary or other Stonnington Library locations:

  • Greville Street Library – 180 Greville Street, Prahran
  • Malvern Library – 1255 High Street, Malvern
  • Phoenix Park Library – 30 Rob Roy Road, Malvern East

Other information 

  • Please collect your reservations by 14 December or contact us to arrange a different pickup location.
  • Drop off your returns at one of our other libraries. 
  • Make use of eLibrary and digital collections such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines and newspapers.
  • All library programs will end on 14 December and will resume in late January 2026.

Where are my reservations that have a Toorak/South Yarra Library pickup location?

Reservations can be collected from Toorak/South Yarra Library until 5pm, Sunday 14 December, or contact us to arrange a different pickup location.

You can select another Pickup Location when placing reservations or adjust the Pickup Location on your existing reservations. Alternatively, you may Suspend your reservations to hold your place in the queue.

If you need assistance with your reservations please speak to a team member.

Where do I return my library items?

Library items can be returned to another Stonnington Library.

Loan and renewal times have been extended, so you can enjoy your items for longer over the holiday period.

Remember there are no charges for overdue items.
