Grief – I don’t know what to say

Seniors talking.jpg

Chances are someone we know will one day need to talk to us about something that’s gone wrong in their life. And what they don’t need from us is our advice or our attempts to take their mind off it and cheer them up. What helps is our empathy, but often we don’t know how to go about it.

In this session you’ll learn how empathy sounds, especially in contrast to responses which aim to fix grief or avoid someone’s real feelings of grief. Using plain speak, there will be plenty of examples to practice and give you confidence.

There are limited number of seats on our Community Transport bus to these workshops, please inquire about availability at time of booking.

Bookings essential, call 8290 3337 or email us at engaged@stonnington.vic.gov.au
