Each year we proudly present a program of festivals and events for the Stonnington community to enjoy.
Spread across the year and across the city, our events are tailored with the whole community in mind. From the raucous school holiday fun of Roola Boola, to evenings of classic sophistication under the stars, there is something here for all ages and all tastes.

Pets in the Park - 28 March 2021

The annual Pets in the Park festival celebrates and promotes animal care and welfare with a day of animal-focused food and craft stalls, demonstrations, workshops and performances.
In its 18th year, Pets in the Park 2021 is set to be a day of fun the whole family - celebrating the joys and responsibilities of pet ownership, highlighting animal rights, protection and welfare.
The festival includes stallholders including animal rescue services, pet products, dog training, pet photographers and other animal enthusiasts, plus a program of presenters, demonstrations and activities.
Pets in the Park is one of our most popular festivals and is firmly entrenched in the community with local pet owners and animal groups.
Roola Boola Children’s Festival - June/July 2021

Roola Boola Children’s Arts Festival is one of Melbourne’s most successful children’s arts festivals.
This immensely popular festival is held annually throughout the mid-year school holidays and is suited to children under the age of twelve.
The festival presents an interactive and dynamic program of performances and workshops in music, comedy, circus, theatre, dance, craft and magic.
Roola Boola takes its name from an Irish phrase meaning boisterous fun.
In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Roola Boola Children’s Arts Festival was successful delivered as an online festival.
Glow Winter Arts Festival - August 2021

The inaugural Glow was held in 2014.
The festival evolved in 2017 when six new commissioned illuminated installations and artworks not previously displayed in Victoria were featured, together with projections on iconic buildings.
The festival program presents eight free outdoor experiences in our parks and gardens and a ticketed performance at Chapel Off Chapel.
Each year the Glow Winter Arts Festival presents a program of stunning and immersive outdoor installations to spark conversation and ignite curiosity after-dark in Malvern East. Glow invites visitors to go on a playful journey of light through Central Park Gardens.
Based at Central Park Gardens on the corner of Burke Road and Wattletree Roads in Malvern East, Glow Winter Arts Festival will come alive with light and colour.
Stonnington Jazz Festival - September 2021
City of Stonnington is proud to present Stonnington Jazz - featuring 100 per cent Australian Jazz!
Widely regarded as one of Australia's leading jazz festivals, Stonnington Jazz is an 11 day extravaganza of fine music coming in venues throughout the City of Stonnington in September.
Spring Into Gardening - 10 October 2021

Spring into Gardening is one of our longest running and most popular events, celebrating all things spring in one of our beautiful gardens.
The event features keynote presentations and demonstrations by gardening and sustainability experts, interactive workshops, live entertainment, a plant giveaway, sustainable food offerings and more than 30 market stalls.
Spring into Gardening is a free outdoor event for the whole family.
Christmas in Stonnington - December 2021
Renowned as one of Melbourne’s most loved free outdoor Christmas concerts, our annual concert is the perfect excuse to pack a picnic and spend an evening on the lawn at one of our fabulous parks.
This annual tradition is when we come together as a community to enjoy a dazzling evening of carols performed by some of Australia’s finest talent.
Christmas in Stonnington will be returning outdoors in 2021.
Sunset Sounds - January 2022
Our Sunset Sounds series is a program of three free concerts, featuring the incredible talents of emerging and established artists.
Presented in the relaxed environment of some of Stonnington's most beautiful parks, spend a balmy summer evening with your family and friends soaking up the wonderful community atmosphere ... and great music!
Bring a picnic, or enjoy refreshments from some of Melbourne's best food trucks - Sunset Sounds brings the community together for a family-friendly night out of free quality entertainment.
The Classics - February 2022
The Classics: Opera, Broadway, Symphony are a series of free outdoor concerts fit for cultural royalty.
Held across three Saturday evenings in February, they feature some of Australia’s most acclaimed music and vocal artists.
Previously known as ‘Opera in the Park’, ‘Musical Melodies’ and ‘Symphony Under The Stars’ the series emerged as ‘The Classics’ in 2016.
These concerts have a rich history in our events calendar with Opera and Symphony running for over 20 years and Broadway running since 2008.
All three events have a loyal following and are exceptionally well attended, with the outdoor park venues reaching near capacity every year.
