Stonnington's Sunset Sounds returns with Aria Award-winning duo Electric Fields headlining

Combining sunshine with standout live music, Stonnington’s beloved summer concert returns to Malvern Public Gardens on Sunday 18 January 2026. These parklands provide an idyllic setting for picnic tunes and carefree dance moves in the sunshine.

Music lovers and good-vibe seekers are invited to soak up the long summer days and settle in for an evening of exceptional performances from some of Australia’s finest musical talents, as Stonnington presents this long-running – and completely free – summer tradition.

This year’s headline act is the powerhouse electronic duo Electric Fields, known for their magnetic stage presence and exhilarating fusion of electronic dance and soul. Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross have earned national and international accolades and acclaim, dazzling audiences across the globe and representing Australia at Eurovision in 2024.

Joining the line-up is genre-defying artist Parvyn, bringing her inimitable ethereal vocals and unique blend of classical Indian raga, soul and jazz, to the Sunset Sounds stage. Parvyn’s cultural heritage and years of experience promise a mesmerising and unforgettable performance.

PBS’s DJ Lyndelle Wilkinson, who returns as MC, will be guiding audiences through the line-up and spinning tunes across the afternoon. A delicious selection of food trucks will round out the perfect summer atmosphere.

Dining

This year’s Sunset Sounds concert brings together a range of delicious food and drink options for you to enjoy while experiencing the excellent music and atmosphere Sunset Sounds will have to offer.

In 2025 we’ll be supporting you to enjoy your Sunset Sounds experience in a sustainable fashion, from your picnic pack-ups to your waste disposal choices.

Food trucks

  • There will be a selection of savoury and sweet food offerings.
  • Our food trucks will be stocked with Green My Plate reusable plates and bowls. Simply order, eat and return to the pink bins. They’ll do the washing for you and ensure the plates are reused over and over at events across Victoria.
  • Don't forget to bring a reusable coffee cup and water bottle to quench your thirst at the event without waste. Drinking water will be available at drinking stations.

Picnics

  • Packing a picnic? Make sure your hamper is stocked with reusable cutlery, crockery, and cups straight from your kitchen cupboards; say no to single-use plastic items and help create a Plastic Free Stonnington.
  • Our bin fairies will be on-hand to help get your waste sorted. Your recyclables will become new products, and food scraps will be turned into compost, used on farms and even used in our own parks.
  • Find out more about City of Stonnington’s Plastic Free Policy and how you can replace single-use plastic waste with reusable alternatives.

How accessible is this event?

  • The Sunset Sounds is presented outdoors at Malvern Public Gardens, Malvern. This park has expansive lawn areas for audience seating with paved pathways throughout.  Lawns are mowed before the event to help with traversing this surface.
  • If you are a Stonnington resident aged over 55 years or living with a disability, our Community Transport Service can pick you up from home.  Book your place by emailing  engaged@stonnington.vic.gov.au
  • Accessible toilets are available at the event.
  • Hearing loops are available for both concerts. Please follow signage near the stage or see event staff on the day for assistance.

The City of Stonnington is committed to access and inclusion for all people. We endeavour to make our City of Stonnington produced events as accessible as possible.

We recognise that the experience of disability and accessibility is diverse and unique to individuals and that performers and audience members still face barriers to access.

We strive to remove as many of these as possible. We understand that we won’t always get it right, and we love to receive feedback about how we can improve and what we did well. For any questions or further information, please contact access@stonnington.vic.gov.au.

Where can I sit?

Sunset Sounds is a picnic-style event. There is a designated picnic blanket and low-chair section and a section for those with higher chairs. Please refer to signage and event staff instructions on the day.

Can I bring my dog/pet?

We recommend that you do not bring your pets to this event. If you do bring your pet(s), they must be on a leash and suitably restrained at all times. All owners are responsible for picking up after their pets.

Can I smoke at the event?

Smoking and vaping is not permitted at any outdoor events, including community or street festivals, as per the October 2016 amendment to the Tobacco Act 1987. The Tobacco Act makes it illegal to smoke or vape in many public spaces where people can be exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke or aerosol from an e-cigarette.

What happens if I lose my child?

If you lose your child at the event, please contact security personnel or one of the event staff (wearing high visibility "Event Staff" vests), who will be able to assist with reuniting you with your child.

Upon arrival, please visit the City of Stonnington's Information Tent and collect a wristband for your child.  This will enable our Customer Service staff to better assist you in the unlikely scenario that your child gets lost. Children should not be left unsupervised at any time.
