Past Councils

Forty people have held the position of Councillor since the first Stonnington City Council was elected to replace the State Government appointed Commissioners in 1996.

16 March 1996 to 21 March 1999

Following the formation of the City of Stonnington in 1994, the electoral structure saw the City divided into nine wards, with one Councillor elected from each.

Changes to legislation to hold all Victorian Local Government elections on the same date resulted in a shortened term for the 2002 Council, with the election brought forward to the end of 2004. The term also saw first time Mayor, Cr Sehr, re-elected to consecutive terms, one being a shortened Mayoral term from March to November 2004.
