The Lost Suburban Cinemas of Melbourne

Suburban-Cinemas-Mobile-Banner-Aug-2025

In The Lost Suburban Cinemas of Melbourne, David Kilderry explores the fondly remembered suburban cinemas that closed between the 1950s and 1980s.

David examines the films and operators of former picture palaces, fleapits, and suburban twins, and why they eventually closed. He will also discuss why some old cinemas have not only survived but prospered, while others haven't. It's a nostalgic and fun-filled look at your favourite cinemas of yesteryear.
