Community safety in Chapel Street
Safety in the Chapel Street precinct is a key concern for our community. This is reflected by the sentiment in our Community Safety Map.
Addressing your concerns is a priority for us, but we can’t do it alone.
With our partners including Victoria Police and the Salvation Army, we’re working on a range of safety improvement initiatives.
These include:
- joint patrols between police and Council to combat crime
- funding for the Pink Car program which helps vulnerable women get home
- targeted outreach to support vulnerable people in the precinct during the day.
Watch our Instagram video about the joint patrols.
Have your say on community safety
We’re proposing some changes to community safety as part of our Chapel Street Precinct Improvement Plan(PDF, 512KB).
The Community Safety Map on our Safer Stonnington community engagement is a way to let us know where you feel safe and unsafe in Stonnington.
Your insights help us to develop solutions in areas such as lighting and urban design. They also strengthen our advocacy for more State Government support and better police resourcing.
