Archaeology open day

National-Trust-Rippon-Lea-and-Como-Simon-Fazi_Nicola-Dziadkiewicz

Join the National Trust and our team of qualified archaeologists for a hands-on exploration of Australia’s past.

Australia’s First Nations history stretches back at least 65,000 years. Over this vast period, archaeologists have uncovered remarkable insights into past communities — their technologies, food, resources and culture. But how do we know these things? At this event, you’ll discover the tools and techniques used across different stages of archaeological investigation and take part in excavating our simulated colonial-era site.

The day will be led by the National Trust’s archaeologists. Their experience spans local and international excavations, research and artefact analysis. They will be supported by staff and volunteers passionate about the site and its history.

Drop-in between 11am and 2pm with guided introductions on the hour at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
