Report business or trader issues

You can report concerns about the way a business or a footpath trader operates, and the City of Stonnington can investigate the issue.

Accommodation businesses

This can include hotels, hostels, motels and rooming houses.  

You can report the following issues: 

  • cleanliness 

  • overcrowding 

  • suspected unregistered business 

Report accommodation business issues

Food businesses

You can report the following issues: 

  • condition of the business 

  • fires that occurred within the business’ premises 

  • food poisoning 

  • hygiene 

  • odours 

  • suspected unregistered business 

Health or beauty businesses

This includes businesses such as beauty parlours, hairdressers and tattoo studios. 

You can report the following issues: 

  • hygiene 

  • suspected unregistered business 

Aquatic facilities

If you have a concern about a public swimming pool, we may be able to help. 

You can report hygiene issues such as pool cleanliness. 

You can also report concerns regarding the spread of contagious illnesses to us. This includes if you or someone you know visited our pools while unwell.  

Businesses operating on a footpath

This includes businesses that have tables, chairs or products displayed on the footpath, as well as buskers.  
 
If you believe their usage of the footpath is causing an issue, report it to us and we will investigate the matter. 

Lighting issues

If you are affected by lighting coming from a business, you can report it to us to investigate.

Report light emission issues coming from property

Noise issues

If you are affected by noise coming from a business, you can report it to us to investigate.  

Odour issues

If you are affected by odours coming from a business, you can report it to us to investigate.  

Pest or rodent issues

We can only manage pest or rodent issues if the animals are coming from the business and causing issues to your private property. 

For example; rubbish bags left outside that are attracting rodents into your property. If this is happening, report it to us for investigation. 

If the issue isn’t affecting your private properties and is a hygiene concern, we recommend reaching out to that business directly to let them know about your concerns.
