The Way We Get By is playing at the MC Showroom for Melbourne Fringe Festival, in collaboration with the Sydney-based Space Between Theatre Company.

The Way We Get By is a look into human connection in its most vulnerable moments. A guy, a girl and a fly on the wall audience. In an hour and a half, we spend a lifetime with Doug and Beth as they navigate the complicated circumstances surrounding their sudden but not unexpected night together. An awkward 4am conversation turns into an intimate exploration of identity and the concept of love.

Played out in real time, Beth and Doug upheave their whole lives, with nothing left unsaid.

The Way We Get By is a truthful romantic comedy. It reveals the depth of the connection between these two people as they say everything they have been too scared to say. Negotiating with themselves, each other, and the world how best to proceed with their relationship and re-discovering what is important in life.
