Sustainable Stonnington

We’re committed to taking a leading role in creating a Sustainable Stonnington. But we can’t do it alone.

When we all work together, we can take action on climate change and work towards a more sustainable future for all people, animals, plants and ecosystems.

On 17 February 2020, the City of Stonnington declared a climate emergency. We’ve stepped up our climate action commitments and are working to integrate sustainability in every aspect of Council services and operations.

Find out what we’re doing now, what we plan to do in the future, and how you can help us to achieve our shared goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

We’re creating a new Environment Strategy to guide our sustainability and climate action efforts for the next 15 years. It will build on the progress we’ve already made together and aligns with our Community Vision. Have your say on the proposed strategy by 1 March 2026.
