Raised pedestrian crossings in Prahran

crossing.png

In 2026, the City of Stonnington will upgrade four existing raised pedestrian crossings at Little Chapel Street, and install new raised pedestrian crossings at:

  • Little Chapel Street at Malvern Road
  • King Street (east of Clifton Street)
  • Bangs Street (connecting the park to homes opposite).

These works are funded through the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program and are focused on improving pedestrian safety by slowing vehicles and improving visibility.

Building the new raised crossings will require the removal of some parking spaces – one at the Bangs Street crossing and one at the King Street crossing.

These locations were chosen to achieve a balance between safety and minimising the loss of car parks.

There will be a community consultation about whether to retain the Kings Street loading zone or convert it to a parking space.
