EXHIBITION OPENING - Field Notes, Erica Elgin.

This exhibition is an annual artist showcase as part of the Shirley Joan Ross Scholarship which awards an emerging artists a solo exhibition in our gallery each year.

Our 2025 recipient, Erica Elgin brings her show Field Notes to the gallery from the Wednesday 27 August - Saturday 13 September.

Erica’s floristry and horticultural training has nurtured an intimate understanding of plant life grounded in detailed consideration and appreciation of flora. This bond to plant life emerges through her artistic practice where observations of plants are translated into emotional geographies through intaglio techniques.

This exhibition brings together an abstract body of work consisting predominantly of  multi-plate etchings on paper which contemplate the natural world with great sensitivity and contemplation, expressing a deep connection to and appreciation of plant life.

When
