Council elections

In Victoria, general council elections are held every four years and it is compulsory to vote.

The most recent general council election was held on Saturday, 24 October 2020 and the next general council election will be held in 2024.

Council elections in Victoria are managed by the Victorian Electoral Commission.

2020 Council election result

The results of the City of Stonnington 2020 Council election were announced on Thursday, 5 November 2020.

Successful candidates were sworn in as Councilllors on Monday 9 November and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor (if applicable) will be elected into office at a special meeting of Council on Monday 23 November.

Election campaign donations

The Local Government Act 1989 requires a summary of election campaign donations be made available on the Council website. The information must be on the website within 14 days of the election campaign donations return lodgment deadline for that election.
