30km/h speed limit trial We are trialling a reduced speed limit of 30km/h in selected streets across Stonnington, including Chapel Street and streets around some local primary schools. The trial will run for 18 months and is part of our broader Road Safety Improvement Program.
40km/h speed limit implementation We are reducing the speed limit to 40km/h in locals streets in Armadale, Malvern and Malvern East as part of our Road Safety Improvement program. These works expand on existing 40km/h limits in local streets in other areas of Stonnington including Prahran, Windsor, South Yarra and parts of Toorak.
Armadale Station precinct road safety improvements To improve pedestrian safety around Armadale Train Station, we are converting Morey Street and Kingsway to a shared zone, and installing raised pedestrian crossings at the corner of Morey Street and Kooyong Road, and Union Street and Kooyong Road in Armadale.
Bendigo Street shared zone upgrade We're upgrading the Bendigo Street shared zone, adjacent to The Flying Duck Hotel. The cul-de-sac will remain and pedestrian and cyclist safety improved. The upgrade will also make this area fully accessible for people using mobility devices.
Chris Gahan Centre demolition and Grattan Gardens extension The City of Stonnington is demolishing the old Chris Gahan Centre in Grattan Gardens and tranforming the area in parkland, expanding the area of open space and creating a green link between Prahran Square and Grattan Gardens.
Connell Park playground upgrade In 2026, the City of Stonnington is upgrading the Connell Park playground.
Darling Street and Osborne Street raised pedestrian crossings In 2026, we will construct a raised pedestrian crossings in South Yarra, on Darling Street at the Toorak Road intersection and on Osborne Street at the Toorak Road intersection.
Densham Road raised pedestrian crossing In 2026, we will construct a raised pedestrian crossing on Densham Road at the intersection with Malvern Road in Armadale.
Earl Street Windsor reconstruction The City of Stonnington is reconstructing the Earl Street, Windsor (between Chapel Street and Hornby Street). The project will be carried out in stages, starting from the Chapel Street end in mid-November 2025, with completion expected early April 2026.
East Malvern Tennis Club refurbishment In 2026, we're refurbishing the outdoor areas of the East Malvern Tennis Club to improve accessibility, safety and compliance.
