Celebrate 30 Years of Chapel Off Chapel

Chapel Off Chapel, Stonnington’s iconic performing arts venue, is celebrating an extraordinary milestone — 30 years at the heart of Melbourne’s arts and culture scene.

Since opening its doors in 1995, Chapel Off Chapel has become one of Australia’s most beloved independent theatres, welcoming more than 1 million patrons to over 10,000 performances across cabaret, comedy, live music and theatre. Each year, the venue hosts 300 shows, drawing 35,000 visitors into the Prahran precinct and cementing its place as a hub of creativity and community.

In vibrant celebration of this 30-year legacy — and the recent restoration of the Chapel’s heritage roof — the building itself becomes the canvas.

Renowned projection artist Rose Staff, whose breathtaking large-scale works have captivated audiences at VIVID Sydney, Glastonbury Festival UK and White Night Melbourne will transform the Chapel facade with a spectacular projection event.

Audiences will be immersed in a luminous journey of art and memory.

✨ The Chapel Theatre’s Angels will come alive in a radiant, dreamy sky.
✨ Stained-glass windows will shimmer with a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours.
✨ The display culminates in a gallery mural, with golden frames illuminated by images and video tributes honouring three decades of unforgettable performances and community stories.

This free outdoor experience is accessible for everyone to enjoy and will light up the night from 6 pm, Wednesday to Sunday evenings, 3–21 September 2025.
