Preventing family violence

Family violence and violence against women are serious and widespread problems in Australia with enormous impacts and social costs. We are committed to reducing all forms of violence in our community and providing leadership on gender equality.

Preventing violence and injury is one of the five pillars in the Stonnington Public-Health-and-Wellbeing-Plan-2017-2021.pdf(PDF, 12MB) , with the aim of promoting an inclusive and respective community.

Preventing Violence Together Strategy

We are a signatory to the Preventing Violence Together Strategy, developed by Women's Health in the South-East (WHISE) in consultation with 28 organisations including community and women’s health services, local government, primary care partnerships, and key health organisations.

This strategy explains the causes of violence against women and makes a case for collective action in the region.
