Group Description

ABC Community Garden

A community garden within the grounds of the Armadale Baptist Church. The garden is run by volunteers and is open to all. More than just a garden, it’s a place to discover sustainable, productive and creative living. Drop your food waste at the communal compost site at the front of the garden.

Buy Nothing Project

The Buy Nothing Project builds community amongst members from Malvern and Armadale through the act of gifting. Asking for items for free brings back the past when you could ask a neighbour for a cup of milk for your tea!

East Malvern Men’s Shed

Repairing items for local childcare centres and charity groups whilst building an East Malvern community of healthy, connected members.

Friends of Gardiners Creek Valley

A local volunteer group who meets on the second and third Sunday of every month at Glenburn Park to care for Gardiners Creek Valley.

Friends of Herring Island

A local volunteer group caring for and revegetating Herring Island. Meet on the first Sunday of every month.

Friends of the Urban Forest

A local volunteer group bringing neighbours together to help care for and learn about Indigenous plants and fauna in the Malvern Urban Forest Reserve, and to enhance community wellbeing and greening. Meet on the second Friday of every month.

 Friends of Victoria Gardens A local group interested in the history, plants, and landscape design of Victoria Gardens in Prahran. Join as a full member or volunteer at an upcoming working bee.
 KooyongKoot Alliance A regional network made up of over 20 Friends groups working in the Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) catchment that works on supporting and connecting member groups, delivering revegetation projects, community engagement and education, and advocacy. Member of the Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) Regional Collaboration.

Love Our Street

Beach Patrol's Love Our Street initiative aims to bring people together as a community to look after our environment, keep our streets beautifully clean and stop litter from getting into our creeks, canals, beaches and oceans. Join the Glen Iris 3146 or Malvern East 3145 groups, or start one in your neighbourhood.

 Punt Hill Community Garden A new community garden currently being established at 520 Punt Rd, South Yarra. Find out more or sign up to be a member.

Rewilding Stonnington

A local group dedicated to reintroducing indigenous and endemic plants to Stonnington, and to raising public awareness and connecting with the pre-colonial heritage of our local council area.

Working to support biodiversity by greening nature strips, pocket parks and railway stations with climate-adapted and habitat-friendly plants.

 Station Volunteers Program A program run by VicTrack which supports local volunteers to enhance the biodiversity of railway stations. Join existing groups at East Malvern, Prahran, and Tooronga, or start one at your own local station.

Stonnington Bicycle User Group

A local group seeking to make Stonnington streets safer and more accessible for cyclists and pedestrians. The group discusses all cycling matters in and around the Stonnington area.

Uniting Op Shops

Prahran volunteers support a range of programs, events and activities for vulnerable and marginalised people across Victoria.

Urban Guerillas  A local youth volunteer group focused on reintroducing and restoring Indigenous biodiversity across Melbourne and offering free education, workshops and events.

Yarra Riverkeeper Association

An independent community of citizen advocates working to protect and preserve the Yarra River through clean-up events, community education and working with the government.

Zero Waste Victoria

Inspiring Victorians to reduce their plastic consumption and waste through everyday choices and actions.
