Gary Bartz in conversation – Melbourne International Jazz Festival

Gary-Bartz-Talk

Join Grammy-winning saxophonist and jazz luminary Gary Bartz for an intimate artist talk hosted by bassist, broadcaster and educator Eric Ajaye.

From his early work with Miles Davis and Art Blakey to recent collaborations with Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) and Adrian Younge’s Jazz Is Dead, Gary Bartz is a pioneering force in shaping the language of jazz improvisation.

Bartz will be joined by pianist, composer and long-time creative partner Barney McAll, who will reflect on their Melbourne International Jazz Festival performance and the power of cross-generational collaboration. With a plethora of stories from his six-decade journey, don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of jazz’s most influential and radical thinkers.

Jazz Legends is a monthly series on ABC Jazz, spotlighting the stories and sounds of jazz’s most iconic artists, hosted by Eric Ajaye.

Presented by Melbourne International Jazz Festival and supported by City of Stonnington.
