Introduction to AI

This course is an introduction to the practical and creative uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It focuses on building digital confidence, improving literacy skills and developing employability skills. It is for AI beginners and those looking to understand how it can support everyday tasks.

The course aims to:

  • build a clear understanding of what AI is and its uses;
  • support learners in using AI tools to complete real-world tasks more easily;
  • enhance digital and communication skills through practical, hands-on activities;
  • encourage safe, creative, and responsible use of AI in daily life and the workplace.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • use AI tools to assist with writing, information gathering and task management;
  • create templates, lists, and other workplace-ready documents using AI;
  • explore creative uses of AI, such as storytelling or image generation;
  • practice safe, ethical, and responsible approaches to using AI tools;
  • apply AI to support collaboration, communication and learning.

The course is interactive and explores AI tools through guided practice. Activities are practical, relevant and accessible. There will be discussion, reflection and peer collaboration.
