Applications for City of Stonnington's inaugural Precinct Activation Grants 2026-27 will be open from Monday 22 June until Sunday 26 July 2026. The new grant supersedes the Economic Activation and Event Grants program.
The grants allow five or more businesses in our smaller neighbourhood precincts to deliver a combined event or activity that provides enhancement, collaboration, and economic activity.
This reflects our vision to be a vibrant and creative city with thriving, unique places and positive economic and sustainability impacts.
The grant supports projects that meet priorities outlined in the Council Plan and its connecting Place-Led Economic Development (PLED) Strategy.
The Precinct Activation Grants 2026 - 27 are open to businesses in our smaller neighbourhood precincts to deliver a combined event or activity that provides enhancement, collaboration, and local economic activity.

To be eligible for a grant of up to $15,000, the applicant(s) must meet the following requirements:

Local visitation and economic impact
Demonstrate how the project will activate the precinct and support local businesses (attract visitation, stimulate the economy) and how you will measure these.
Business and community consultation
Demonstrate how the project will collaborate with and secure participation from precinct and local community businesses
Capability and experience
Demonstrate the capability and experience to manage and deliver a successful activation to scope, on time and on budget.
Planning and financial viability
Demonstrate the capability to deliver a successful activation by providing a realistic project plan, with relevant evaluation metrics and a budget that offers value for money.
In-person presentation
Attend an in-person presentation at Council offices to outline the concept and answer any questions about the proposed activation.
Submit an online application via the SmartyGrants website. Applications will open on 22 June and close on 26 July.

Successful applicants must submit an acquittal report by June 2027, including evaluation data. Council can provide a reporting template and QR code to assist with measuring event success.
