Making a stand against gender-based violence
Published on 25 November 2025
Everyone has the right to be free of violence or the fear of violence and to also feel safe and respected in their family and relationships.
The City of Stonnington stands for a community where everyone is safe, equal and respected.
During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign held annually between 25 November and 10 December, we’re asking you to join us in taking three simple steps towards a future where we are all safe, equal and respected:
- Think about what respect means to you and consider how respect shows up in your home, relationships, workplace and community. What needs to change and how can you take action?
- Call out sexism and other forms of discrimination when you see or hear them, if it's safe for you to do so.
- Set the right example when it comes to gender equity. This might include encouraging actions in your workplace, talking to the kids in your life about gender stereotypes, or starting a conversation in your local sports club or community group.
