Fundraising for Not For Profits (Southeast Volunteers)

The session covers core principles of financial management and good budgeting, understanding donor motivations and principles for seeking donations, developing a bequest strategy for charity donations in Wills, key elements of successful funding submissions and standing out, and the importance of risk management, including the risk management process and managing potential risk areas using a risk matrix and ratings.

 The 3Rs: Recruitment, Retention, and Recognition (Volunteering Victoria)

This interactive workshop provides participants with strategies they can implement into their program. Participants will use the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement to develop or improve an existing volunteer program so that they can successfully recruit, retain and recognise the important contribution volunteers make; leading to longer retention rates and a healthy workplace culture.

Stonnington City Council is offering a limited number of accredited training courses for organisations to develop skills and knowledge on mental health first aid. The training teaches organisations how to recognise and respond to vulnerable members of the community experiencing mental health challenges.

The course requires 2 components to be completed.

Component 1 is a series of eLearning modules that takes approximately 5 to 7 hours to complete. The eLearning modules are to be completed prior to completing component 2.

Component 2 requires you to attend 2 x 2.5 hour webinars with High Resolution Australia. The webinars are generally facilitated on Monday and Tuesday mornings starting at 11:30 am.

As there are a limited number of places available, please email communitydevelopment@stonnington.vic.gov.au to register your interest in attending, along with a brief description of how the training will benefit your organisation.

Volunteer Marketing and Retention

This practical session outlines a step-by-step overview for the approach to recruiting and retention of volunteers in the 21st Century. Designed for small and large volunteer involving organisations, participants will reflect on their own volunteer needs, opportunities and what needs to be in place to increase recruitment and improve retention.

We will look at how volunteering is changing, what the current attitudes our communities have to volunteering and how our organisations need to think through roles, responsibilities, messaging and processes to reach and engage people effectively.
