Swimming pools and spas

In December 2019, the Victorian Government introduced new laws to make swimming pools and spas safer. If you own a pool or spa or plan to have one built, you must:

  • register each pool or spa on your property with the City of Stonnington
  • after registering, have it inspected and lodge a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (form 23).

You only need to register your pool or spa once. After registering, you'll need to have your pool or spa inspected and submit a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (form 23) every four years. 

Lodge a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (form 23)

You must have your pool or spa inspected and lodge a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (form 23) every four years.

Register a swimming pool or spa

If you have a pool or spa on your property, you must register it with the City of Stonnington.

Decommission a swimming pool or spa

You must inform Council and arrange an inspection if you want to decommission and remove a swimming pool or spa on your property.
