You can hire Council parks, gardens and sports grounds for a range of private and community purposes. View requirements and fees for each activity below.

Private activities (picnics, BBQs)

You can use our parks for picnics, BBQs and other private activities. You'll need a booking if more than 50 people are attending.

Private activities are held in these parks:

Private activities have a maximum of 100 people and must take place during daylight hours. Marquees, jumping castles and heavy infrastructure is not permitted.

Vehicles cannot be driven onto a park for private activities. 

Apply 6 months in advance of your booking date. A booking does not imply exclusive use of a park.

Wedding ceremonies

You can hold a wedding ceremony in the following parks:

Ceremonies have a maximum of 100 people and three hours duration. You can’t use marquees but hirers can set up tables and chairs.

Vehicles cannot be driven onto a park for wedding ceremonies. 

Apply 6 months in advance of your booking date. A booking does not imply exclusive use of a park.

To hire a park or garden for a community event, you will need to apply for an Event permit.

Event permit

You will need an Event Permit if you are a business or community organisation planning a festival, event or activation on Council land like a park, garden, footpath or open space.

An event permit is required if:

  • an organisation is running the event and has an ABN or ACN
  • significant infrastructure needs to be set up, like sound systems, stages and marquees
  • you will be selling products or food at the event
  • a street needs to be closed off.
