Andrew2-Copy

Stonnington Symphony is delighted to be joined by guest conductor Thaddeus Huang and acclaimed horn soloist Andrew Young. Immerse yourself in a remarkable programme that promises to take you on a journey across oceans, rivers and lands.

Elgar’s In the South bursts with Mediterranean warmth and sweeping grandeur.

Gipps’ Horn Concerto offers a lyrical, introspective contrast, showcasing the instrument’s warmth and nobility.

Rachmaninov’s The Sea and the Seagulls, orchestrated by Respighi, evokes haunting, atmospheric imagery.

Two movements from Smetana’s Má vlast—Vyšehrad and Vltava—paint majestic scenes of Czech history and natural beauty, from the ancient fortress to the flowing river. Together, the program blends romanticism, nationalism, and impressionistic colour in a powerful celebration of place and memory.
